Each Celtic seasonal celebration I will send you a look into that celebration and the stories it holds for our own lives.

Hello and Happy Imbolc,

I love this time of year, it fills me with a sense of awe and love for the wild potential within us all; soil, bodies, plants and fungi.

My birthday is in this month too, which makes it even more lovely, and is one of the reasons my father named me Brigit, after the Celtic goddess of this festival, which is a nod to my Scottish and Irish heritage and the old festivals in my family.

The word imbolc means ‘in the belly’ as well as ‘womb’ and also has roots in the word budding.

Imbolc, like all Celtic festivals brings our awareness to and honours the processes of the earth, and also within ourselves, sewing us into relationship with the beauty and power of the wilds way of growing, recovering, resting and dying all for continued life.
