Hello Lovelies,
I’ve been mulling over and researching for my book, about the filter of our brains, the stories we are told and how rewilding them can help us to see a whole new world.
Below are some of my thoughts, I hope it makes sense……….
“One believes things because one has been conditioned to believe them.” - Aldous Huxley
Words and stories are like spells, made up of tiny spellings that can create our reality. What we are told and taught, especially as children, can deeply effect how we see and feel about the world both within and around us, they can form how we connect to life, the level of safety we feel and the fullness we experience.
They can wrap around us and shape our perception, becoming the lens through which we view the world, the way we behave towards it and the habits we grow.
Our beautiful brain is an immensely powerful processing tool, comparing data and analysing it, alongside this, is a strong filter. It filters things out from our environment, from the perceived information that has been given to us by our senses, our hearts and our bodies about our surroundings.
We are being bombarded in every moment, my millions of sensory inputs, we cant possible take it all in, which is why the filter is important.
The brain filters away much of what we have been led to understand is not important, or essential for our survival, our growth, our wants and our safety. And this understanding that instructs the brain, is shaped by the stories we are taught, the second hand information we’ve been given, the cultural narratives and the experiences we have had.
Depending on what we are shown as a child, this safety filter on our perception, can either highlight the worlds beauty and bring us closer to it, or dim its shine and alienate us from the heart of it.
