So grab your journal, a herbal tea or a jug of coffee, a blanket, a cosy space or whatever it is you need to explore these prompts along with pen/pencil and maybe a timer if you want to give yourself timings which I personally think is a good idea, but do what’s right for you.
“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do”
― Tahereh Mafi
Hello beauties,
February’s full moon is known as the Snow Moon due to the amount of snow this time brings to parts of America, over this way, in the UK, this moon has also been called the ice moon and the storm moon. This year, February’s full moon is the smallest moon of the year, while we’ll be able to enjoy some super moons later on in the year, this moon is your chance to see the first micromoon of 2024.
A micromoon is a full moon that coincides when the moon is at its farthest point from earth — apogee — making it appear smaller anot as bright as your typical full moon. A micromoon can be 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than a supermoon.
We are slowly leaving February and heading into a month where the stirrings of life within the belly start to show themselves above the earth.
I’ve been enjoying the young wild garlic, the cleavers and the nettles that have been popping up all around my home and the places I visit. There are a few more dandelion flowers to spot too; golden and so very alive.

FULL MOON JOURNALING -
The theme for this moons journaling is cracking open……. Under the earth, due to wetness, cold, increasing light and warmth seeds are beginning to root and open. Their old forms, the seed casings that have held and fed them, now become unneeded, and begin their journey of decay, so life and the future may bloom.
The seed has been held by the earth, full as it is, of stories, stories of past shapes, stories of old existences and mineral rich medicine. Mycelium shapes themselves around the seed, the silvery threads full of communion and interwoven links that support the community, ready to soon wrap themselves around the roots contained in the seed when they grow and help them connect even more to the life force around. Embedding them into belonging.
Although this cracking open of the seed is necessary and vital if the seed is to bring their beauty and medicine to the earth and live a rich, full life, I wonder at our own cracking open, our own seeds inside ourselves and our difficulty in letting them open or change form, our fear of the curling tendrils they will grow within us and outside of us and the concrete they will open up.
The earth brings many factors to a seed, and holds them in so many tender ways that support them to give in to the necessary processes of life, I wonder what it is we need in order to do the same?
Free Writing -
Start the process of journaling with free writing. If you are unsure what that means follow this link and read the description. Give yourself about 20 minutes if you can but you can do a longer or shorter stretch depending on your own needs, there is no right or wrong to this.
Prompts -
I often give timings for these, but I feel you should use the timing that suits you the most, for you know how much time you have available to you. Each prompt could be anything from 1 minute to 15 minutes. You don’t need to do all the prompts, just see which ones appeal to you.
When using these prompts, don’t hinder yourself with ideas of grand poetry, prose or wise words, but instead just let yourself start writing and just see what comes without stopping yourself, without judgement or criticism, but instead a healthy curiosity for the process. Letting yourself honestly explore and the feeling world within.
